The Role of Moray Childcare Partnership – Childcare Providers
Moray Childcare Partnership (MCP) supports childcare workers throughout Moray by providing information surrounding legislation, childcare qualifications, marketing, training and so on. Our service aims to assist in your day to day role and keep you up to date with issues which may be of concern to you. MCP deals with the following:-
- The Care Inspectorate on a local and national level;
- Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) regarding qualifications;
- Moray Council regarding various issues including the Early Years Framework;
- Scottish Government regarding the Early Years Framework and other issues surrounding childcare;
- All Scottish Local Authorities (32 in total) to discuss issues surrounding childcare, as well as other areas;
- All 30 Childcare Information Services throughout Scotland;
- NHS Grampian – Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Paediatric Occupation Therapy, Dietetics, Mental Health Practitioners, Health Visitors, as well as others;
- All childcare providers in Moray – meeting with managers of childcare provisions every 6-8 weeks to discuss issues affecting them in their day to day roles and how these can be dealt with;
- Meeting with childminding groups as and when required to update or discuss issues of concern in their day to day roles;
- Moray College/UHI regarding qualification requirements for childcare workers;
- Training providers to provide the training you require;
- Parents/carers looking for childcare or that have issues surrounding childcare;
- Developmental Playgroups and groups that cater for children with additional needs up to the age of 18.
This list is not exhaustive as MCP receives all types of enquiries on a weekly basis; however, MCP is here to help you in any way we can. Please do not hesitate to pick up the phone and call us if you have a question – whatever it may be, if MCP cannot help you we will find someone who can.
Information
MCP aims to provide you with up to date links or publications to advise you of new areas relevant to your roles. Our service is in contact with both local and national organisations to keep you up to date with issues surrounding childcare.
Advice
MCP aims to provide you with advice on any questions or queries you may have in your line of work; however, if advice is not available MCP will direct you to someone who can help. Whether you require information about childminding, policies, etc or information for parents (such as tax credits, etc), remember you can call us with any question, even if you just need a little advice on a subject you are not 100% sure about.
Training
Training relevant to your role, aimed at ensuring the training benefits not only you but also the children you care for.
Marketing
Both the MCP website and the Scottish Government website provide the general public with information on your childcare setting; this is a great free marketing tool for you.
Childminding Groups
MCP encourages you to tackle up to date issues which may affect you and also encourage sharing of good practice. MCP is happy to come along to childminding groups if you wish; however, MCP will only attend if invited and will never turn up without agreeing with the person(s) in charge of the group. Childminding groups throughout Moray are mainly informal which seems to work well. If you would like help in setting up a group, again MCP can assist with this.
